Chris Gayle has taken a remarkable one handed diving catch while playing for GlobalT20 Canada final. While the West Indies were busy completing their first Test series victory at home since 2014, master blaster Chris Gayle was taking one of the greatest and most unusual catches you will ever see in the final of the Global T20 in Canada.Gayle’s Vancouver Knights were up against the West Indies B side in the decider of the tournament where Australian cricketers Steve Smith and David Warner were making their professional comebacks following the disastrous tour of South Africa. While the self-proclaimed ‘Universe Boss’ failed to set the world on fire with the bat in hand during the series, the catch he took in the final set the Twittersphere alight.Standing at slip to Aussie leg-spin bowler Fawad Ahmed, Gayle’s reactions were put to the test when batsman Kavem Hodge went back to a fullish delivery and tried to play it onto the off-side.Hodge could only manage a thick edge which flew to Gayle. While falling down, the 38-year-old managed to palm the ball up with his left hand, before somehow magically snaring the ball, mid spin mind you, with his opposite hand before hitting the turf.
“Oh, dropped him! Oh, he’s got it! Oh, ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous, Chris Gayle. You cannot do that!” the commentator screamed.
Gayle’s side went onto claim victory in the final, beating the West Indies B side by seven wickets in the final of the first Global T20 series in Canada.
Gayle could only manage two runs in his innings, but Rassie van der Dussen (44*) and Saad Bin Zafar (79*) ensured Vancouver chased down their opponent’s total of 146 midway through the 18th over.
